The Missing Name
A tiny film poster detail about who gets seen, who gets named, and who gets left out.
This Disclosure Day poster felt odd to me before I knew why. Then I realised: Emily Blunt’s face is the poster, but her name is not. Spielberg is named. David Koepp is named. The release date is named. The image is hers, but the credit is not.
Maybe that is normal. Maybe it is a clean design choice. Maybe the thinking is: everyone knows Spielberg, and Blunt is already present in the image.
But it still feels strange. If an actor’s face is carrying the poster, there is something quietly awkward about leaving their name off it. Maybe it is not disrespect. Maybe it is not sexism. But once you notice it, it feels less like minimalism and more like a question.
